- I learned long ago that Intuit's interests were not the same as mine. I've moved on to less costly filing programs (TaxAct) for myself and my family members. Guess it's time to raise the rate they pay taxes at, since they have so much "free" cash.

- Perry only cares for the 1%. He is doing everything he can to make life for the rest of us really miserable. Texas is the home of one of the worst education systems in the country and the lowest wage jobs in the country. Come on down!

- Insurance coverage cost for the same plan, under my major company insurance plan for UnitedHealthCare, increased from around $5K in 2012 to $14K in 2013. Needless to say, I switched plans.

- If the Republicans insist on cuts to benefits, then they need to come out and state the amount and what benefits those cuts will impact. Otherwise, they'll blame the Democrats for cutting benefits. Played that game, won't play it again.

- I've been to the Big Island a number of times, and the lava flows are fascinating. The best way to view lava flowing into the see is through one of the boat charters out there. The reputable ones know what to do, and I've picked up some great shots and video from those trips.
